We extend to all new Scouts, and those who
are returning, a sincere welcome to Troop 39, Scarborough. For seventy years, this troop
has provided boys with the opportunity to develop friendships, skills and the confidence
within themselves to become outstanding citizens within the community. Along with their
adult leadership each Scout will have a hand in making this years program an
exciting and beneficial one.
All activities are designed to challenge the
Scout to grow as an individual within the group. Everyone is encouraged to participate
whole-heartedly in order to gain the fullest benefit of what is being offered. Through team effort we can strengthen the individual and
make anything possible.
Troop 39 has a long tradition of excellence
and together we will strive to maintain that excellence.
No regular Troop meetings on the 1st Monday of each
month, as this is TLC night. Troop meetings are held
each of the remaining Mondays from
6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Scout Barn, Rt. 114, unless otherwise specified. These meetings are mandatory. Each meeting is planned around a specific theme
and concentrates on skill development, patrol involvement, competition, games and fun. One patrol will be responsible for clean-up each
week. A good rule of thumb to remember...No School/No
Scouts.
ADULT COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The Adult Committee meets on the first Monday
of every month at 7pm, the same time as the troop meeting.
All parents are encouraged to participate in these meetings. Committee members are expected to attend. This is an opportunity to voice your concerns,
gain insight and to become directly involved with your sons development through the
scouting experience.
TROOP LEADERS COUNCIL
(TLC)
Most
TROOP MEETINGS
of the troops program planning is done by our TLC, which is made up of older scouts,
patrol leaders and their assistants. This is
one place where leadership skills are put to the test and refined. Each boy is required to participate presenting
ideas, views and concerns which help to form a concrete direction for the Troop throughout
the year.
BANQUET AND FAMILY NIGHTS
A banquet is held once a year at Christmas
time. Families bring either a casserole dish,
salad or dessert to feed one family which is then shared in a buffet meal. Family nights
are also held three times a year; in September, after April vacation and at the end of the
Scouting year. The purpose of these meetings
is to share Scouting with all family members. The
meetings center around activities of interest for the entire family.
Each of these events
are usually held on Monday evenings in conjunction with the regular troop meetings.
